On September 1, the fifth session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress passed a decision on amending the Civil Procedure Law, which will take effect on January 1, 2024.

The amendments to the Civil Procedure Law focus on improving the system of foreign-related civil procedure, which is conducive to further enhancing the quality and efficiency of trials of foreign-related civil cases, better safeguarding the litigation rights and legitimate interests of the parties, and better safeguarding China's sovereignty, security and development interests. At the same time, the amendments to the Law also responded positively to the concerns of the society by amending and improving other relevant issues in the field of civil litigation.
