SPC releases Typical Cases of Maritime Trials in 2022

On 30 June, China’s Supreme People’s Court (SPC) released ten typical cases heard by maritime courts across the country in 2022. This batch of typical cases has three characteristics: First, efforts to create a preferred place for foreign-related maritime dispute resolution, services to ensure a high level of opening up. The second is to give full play to the function of maritime justice to promote the recovery of international shipping and the development of marine economy. The third is to increase the judicial protection of the marine environment, to ensure the construction of marine ecological civilization. In Case 3, the court fully respected the parties' will to arbitrate, and took arbitration preservation measures in accordance with the law to create a nice judicial environment in support of arbitration.
