IMO Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) holds its 107th session
The 107th session of the IMO’s Maritime Safety Committee (MSC 107) was held from 31 May to 9 June 2023, presided by Ms Mayte Medina, Chair of IMO Maritime Safety Committee.
IMO Secretary General Kitack Lim pointed out in his opening speech that the theme of this year's World Maritime Day is MARPOL at 50 – Our commitment goes on, calling on the organisation to stand united in addressing the challenges posed by the decarbonisation of shipping. The two-pronged approach of MARPOL Convention), developed by the MEPC, and the liability regime for pollution damage developed by the LEG have had a significant impact on the marine environment and the people who depend on the sea for their livelihoods.
