International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships officially adopted by 77th General Assembly of the UN and the signing ceremony opened in Beijing

On December 7, 2022, the Sixth Committee of the 77th General Assembly of the United Nations officially adopts a resolution on the International Effects of Judicial Sale of Ships. It reflects the following contents: firstly, commends the draft of the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships by the UNCITRAL; secondly, adopts the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships as contained in the annex of the resolution; thirdly, authorizes the signature ceremony of the Convention to be held in Beijing in 2023 as soon as practicable, at which time, the Convention will be open for signing in, whilst Convention is suggested be referred to as "Beijing Convention on Judicial Sales of Ships" for short; fourthly, urges governments and regional economic integration organizations which are willing to strengthen the legal framework for international shipping and navigation to accede to the Convention.
